Rentals at Old Ship Church
If you are having problems with the e-mail links, click here for an explanation and solution.
The Old Ship Meetinghouse may be used for weddings or other occasions by residents of Hingham, and by others, subject to the availability of the building and the approval of the minister of Old Ship. Requests for use should be made through the Administrative Assistant.
Members of Old Ship Church have priority in the use of church buildings and many of the fees noted below do not apply.
Rev. Kenneth Read-Brown, our minister, officiates or co-officiates at weddings for nonĀmembers as well as members of Old Ship. If he is not available, we will refer you to other members of the Unitarian Universalist clergy. If you would like to make other arrangements, we ask that you speak first with Rev. Read-Brown.
The Meetinghouse is open to be seen by anyone on Sunday mornings during the school year, from 9:30 to 11:30. Our Sunday services are at 10:30. The Parish House is open for inspection weekday and Sunday mornings should you wish to see it. Please call our office if you have any questions. We will do all we can to make your wedding a joyous occasion!
Music
Any music for the service should be arranged well in advance with our organist and Music Director. Should you wish to use other musicians, it is strongly advised to confer this with the organist and her fee will be required. Soloists and other special music requests may require increased or additional fees.
Wedding Rehearsal
A rehearsal is necessary for weddings and should be arranged with the Administrative Assistant, (781-749-1679) and coordinated with the minister and the organist.
Decorations
Floral arrangements may be attached by ties only; no tacks, no tape or similar materials and no balloons may be used. The use of candles is limited by fire regulations to our 2 floor candelabra, each holding 7 twelve fourteen inch candles, and wedding candles on the flower table. Florists may be admitted to the church following the rehearsal or one hour prior to the wedding. If you have other questions about decorations, please talk with the administrative assistant. No runner is allowed.
No confetti, rice, bio-rice, birdseed or other similar material, may be thrown anywhere on the premises.
Receptions, concerts, and workshops
The Parish House/Fellowship Hall is occasionally available for receptions, concerts and workshops. Rental may be arranged with the Administrative Assistant.
