Coffeehouse off the Square:

Now in its 25th season, the Coffeehouse provides a brief respite from our hectic everyday lives, gives budding singer-songwriters and poets a chance to be heard monthly between September and May, contributes net proceeds to support the varied work of the UU Service Committee, and sometimes sparks an interest in Old Ship Church. It also contributes to shared investments for churchwide use, such as tables, chairs, chair racks, and the new Parish Hall lighting.

Green Sanctuary Team:

The team works to affirm Old Ship's "respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part" by promoting activities that inform and support UUs to sustain life on earth. The team received Green Sanctuary certification in 2009 from the Unitarian Universalist Association.

Religious Education:

Our religious education programs - for children, youth, and adults - all have service and social justice dimensions. Many of our adult classes are open to the public and frequently explore interfaith themes, thereby, we hope, contributing to interfaith understanding. We hope to inspire our children and youth with programming that is based on our Unitarian Universalist principles to create a meaningful community.

Social Outreach Committee:

This committee, appointed by the Board of Trustees, considers requests for grants to outside organizations from our Social Outreach Fund and makes grant recommendations to the Parish for vote at our Annual Meeting each May. Grants are usually in the $1,000 - 4,000 range. The committee also decides how to allocate the operating budget line item for social outreach.
