Carbon Footprint Survey
The purpose of this survey is to benchmark the Old Ship community’s carbon footprint. To gauge the effectiveness of “greening” efforts, it is best to measure the current status of the households within the community. Similarly, the Old Ship Meeting House and Parish House have been audited to determine the carbon emission impact of these buildings while being used by the community.
The method that will be used to footprint the community will include the data you provide in this survey. Once received, the data will be compiled and extrapolated for the whole parish community (based on an adequate data sample from submission of this survey). The more households who submit competed surveys the more accurate will be the combined data. Please make every effort to complete the survey as accurately as possible. The carbon footprint survey measures your direct carbon emissions (Scope 1) from burning fossil fuels such as heating oil, natural gas, and gasoline (used for heating your home and for driving), as well as your indirect carbon emissions. The majority of electricity (Scope 2) is generated at a power plant by burning fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil, or coal. Additional sources of indirect emissions (Scope 3) result from activities such as long distance travel (airplane/train/bus), waste disposal, and the products we choose to purchase. The disposal & treatment of solid waste contributes to carbon emissions, while recycling will reduce carbon emissions.
NOTE: The survey is anonymous, but if you would like the Committee to calculate your household’s carbon footprint, please include your name and phone number/e-mail address on the survey form
